We Are People Who Love to See Kids Learning and Growing!

Reading is the foundation to learning. We are passionate about helping young readers read well! We have taken some of what we have learned about helping struggling readers over the years and created these videos for parents to help their kids become better readers.

Teacher Kim started out as a special education teacher and taught for many years. She took a break to start a family, but even then she tutored kids in her home. Once her kids were in school, she went back to teaching and found her passion as a reading specialist —helping struggling readers get caught up with the rest of the class. While teaching at her elementary school in Gig Harbor, Washington she was asked to start a mentoring program with the Communities in Schools organization. In her program she paired struggling readers with community mentors who met once a week to read together. She thought the time would be best spent if they had a “mini reading lesson” before each reading time. It was a huge success.

Then a community leader suggested that it would be great if these lessons were in a video format so parents could do the “mentoring” with their own children at home. That sparked an idea.

The reading videos on this site are the first offering of our concept of “parents helping kids learn” which may evolve as we learn what our viewers want and need. Thanks for visiting!
